Accelerating Competitiveness In Infocommunications PDF Print E-mail

The Centre for Infocommunications Law (CIL) organises an international conference on the topic of "Accelerating competitiveness in electronic communications, data protection, media regulation" at 24-25th November 2009. The event focuses on the ever changing relationship between regulation and competitiveness in the domains of electronic communications, media and data protection in the information age. The conference aims to provide a forum for discussion between regulators, market players and academics and also aims at disseminating the results of a multiannual research project carried out by CIL. The conference is financed by the Apponyi - Mecenatúra support program.

On the first day of the two days’ event a plenary session will be held where regulators, stakeholders of the industry will brief their views with regard to regulation and competitiveness.

The second day of the conference will continue with two thematic modules. The first module deals with electronic communications, media and it’s relationship to competitiveness, where presentations focus on effective market regulation, mobile TV and IPTV. In the second module the role of privacy in the information society will be analysed paying particular attention to technological challenges and to harmonisation.
